NICHOLE ROGERS FOR
CITY COUNCIL DISTRICT 6

Dear Friends and Neighbors,

I am overwhelmed with gratitude for everyone who voted for me! To get 40% of the vote with four candidates shows that our shared vision for District 6 is possible. Thank you for believing in me and trusting me to lead. They expect that we won’t turn out to vote in a runoff and to that I say, you don’t believe in the power of community. I BELIEVE and know that we will not only show up but this time we are bringing our friends.

For those of you who may be new to my online community...My name is Nichole Rogers, and I am honored to be running for City Council District 6.

I am a hardworking, born-and-raised New Mexican, a policy advocate, community organizer, and single mother who is raising my kids in South Los Altos near the International District. I believe in working within our communities to solve our city’s critical issues and to continue to make Albuquerque a place where everyone can thrive and belong.

While I have witnessed first hand the progress our city is making, yet change can still be frustratingly difficult to see. As a Black and Hispanic woman, a single mother of two, and survivor of an abusive relationship, I know what it takes to make ends meet, to struggle for a safe home for your family, and to navigate social systems. I know how difficult it can be not only to survive but to build wealth and secure opportunities for a better future.

Building relationships of trust with local elected leaders starts with going door-to-door. To me, putting “Community First” means tapping into the power of lived experience to develop people-oriented solutions. “Community First” means bringing tangible resources and opportunities home to hardworking Albuquerque families through outreach and collaboration.

I am fully committed to addressing the underlying causes of public safety and health crises in Albuquerque, which is poverty. Homelessness, violent crime, and substance abuse are all symptoms of widespread poverty. We need to invest in tools, resources, and opportunities so that everyone in our community can feel safe raising their families here. As the City of Albuquerque’s former African American Community and Business Liaison, the chair of the City’s Gun Violence Task Force, and a consultant with a financial management firm that helps people save and invest for their future, I know how to bring people together to address challenges and find solutions.

I am excited to lead Council District 6 with our shared vision of a brighter, more unified future. I hope to earn your support!

In solidarity,

Nichole
